Welcome to a blog about Online educational games. These pages have arisen from my studies for my Master of Education (ICT). I aim to look at current research about the impacts of online games and simulations upon student learning and try to discover whether or not online games impact and enhance student learning. I also plan to add links and evaluations to as many online games as I can (although I am still checking out the legalities of this), so that this page could turn out to be a useful resource for classroom teachers and research students alike!
My name is Liz. I am a primary school teacher in an outer south eastern suburb of Melbourne and have returned to study after teaching for the last ten years. I have a particular interest in ICT's and their successful integration into the classroom, classroom practice and teacher pedagogy. I teach, at least for 2011, three days each week and study for two (well, we won't mention the amount of study that occurs on the weekend-when I'm not at the MCG barracking for Geelong, that is!) It's a juggle and at times a bit of a scramble. But what's life without it's challenges?
The first research reading I will include discusses the effects, advantages and disadvantages of using simulation styled games, in this case, "Lemonade Tycoon 2". Coming soon!
Please leave me a message, let me know what you think and recommend some games I haven't included!
